Episode 4: Put AI to Work: Build Workflows, Solve Problems

Hey everyone!
How do you turn what you’re learning about AI into something you can actually use?
When I started Neural Gains Weekly, the weekly deadline gave me a reason to keep experimenting. I had ideas I wanted to share, but writing them from scratch was taking up too much of my free time. Getting an article finished became a practical problem to solve.
In Episode 4 of Explore AI Out Loud, Brandon and I talk through how that process evolved. I now start by talking through my ideas. AI helps organize them into a brief, develop a draft, and support the final polish. I still shape the message, work through the edits, and check what goes out.
Each article gave me another chance to test the process and improve it. That is the takeaway I come back to in this episode: give your learning somewhere to go.
Try it with one task you already need to finish. It could be outlining an idea, planning a project, or preparing a recurring update. Pick one part where AI might help, give it the context it needs, and check the result. Keep a short note about what worked and what you would change next time. That gives your next attempt a starting point.
We also look inside the “second brain” I’m building to keep my working preferences, context and lessons organized across AI tools. One simple example is telling an assistant to ask me one question at a time, so I can work through my ideas without facing a long list at once.
Then we take the discussion into the workplace: how people build experience, and what employers can do to connect learning time with useful, supported practice. Brandon makes the case for following training with a real task where people can apply it.
